Parent and Family Welcome

The Parent and Family Welcome is an opportunity for parents and family members of newly admitted students to engage with faculty and senior administrators, experience the excitement of the start of the academic year, and meet each other while their students begin Orientation.

Schedule of Events 

Wednesday, September 2, 2026

A warm welcome to our newest families! 

5 p.m. to 7 p.m.   The Parent & family Welcome reception, 

Join other new parents, family members and Brown administrative staff for a moment to relax and enjoy light refreshments.  Senior leaders will welcome parents, family members and guests of our new students. 

Thursday, September 3, 2026

A full day of activities designed to help you feel connected to Brown and provide you with the information you need to help you stay connected to your student while providing them the space to grow during their time on campus. 

9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The Parent & Family Welcome

Parents and families are an important part of the Brown community. Learn more about how to get involved and find important resources.

Family Resources

If circumstances or distance make it impossible for you to accompany your student to Brown, please don’t worry: our faculty, administrators, and students are here to help them acclimate to Brown. Likewise, if you will be bringing your student to campus for a Pre-Orientation program earlier in the week and are unable to stay until Orientation begins, the staff of the various programs will work closely with your student to ensure a successful transition.
