During Orientation, new students will be assigned a Bruno Leader, their go-to peer mentor for all things New Student Orientation and Weeks of Welcome, and a Bruno Group, a small group of other New Brunonians who they share a residential neighborhood with. New students will meet with their Bruno Leader and Bruno Group multiple times throughout Orientation and Weeks of Welcome. Every year students tell us in the NSO survey that their Bruno Leader and Bruno Group are a highlight of their Orientation experience!
We have two optional Bruno Group Tracks this year: Rural Students Track and Gap Year(s) Students Track.
- Rural Students Track: Students in the Rural Student Track will be assigned a Bruno Group of first-year students who are coming to Brown from domestic or international rural communities and have an interest in being in a group with peers who share similar backgrounds. The Brown Daily Herald covered this new initiative last year; feel free to read about new rural students’ experience in Orientation last Fall!
- Gap Year(s) Students Track: Students in the brand new Gap Year(s) Track will be assigned Bruno Groups that will be made up of first-year students who are starting college after one to five gap year(s) and have an interest in being in a group with peers who share similar experiences.
Orientation Tracks are fully optional, and more opportunities will be available during Orientation to connect with students from additional affinity groups, as well. If you are interested in opting into one of our Orientation Tracks, please submit the form below. If you are not interested, no need to fill out the form - you will be automatically assigned to a Bruno Group with peers from your residential neighborhood!
