Undergraduate Orientation

Connect with your Bruno Fellows!

The Bruno Fellows are six full-time students at Brown University who lead Orientation programming.

Have a Question? Want to Connect? Need a Student Perspective? Talk to a Bruno Fellow!

Embarking on your journey at Brown comes with excitement, questions, and a curiosity about what lies ahead. Our Bruno Fellows are experienced student leaders who are here to help guide you through this transition.

Drop into our open office hours where you can meet to ask your questions and gain insights into life at Brown. If you have questions about navigating campus, discovering Providence's vibrant community, the Brown student experience, or understanding the unique culture that defines our historic campus, our Fellows are here to provide answers and support. If you just want to talk and connect ahead of your arrival to Brown, that's great, too.

Feel free to drop in with no agenda or a long list of questions; the Fellows can't wait to meet you!

    Simone Dunbar

Hi! I’m Simone, a rising senior studying Applied Math-Computer Science! I’m from Sharon, MA.

This is my third year working with New Student Orientation, and my first as a Bruno Fellow. Along with Shrey, I oversee event logistics & planning!

Outside of orientation, I am on the Varsity Track & Field team, a tour guide, Student Communications Chair in the Admissions Office, President of Ink@Brown - a screenprinting club, and President of the Run Providence, our chapter of a national children focused non-profit! I also love to do anything crafty - paint nails, crochet, sew, etc.

Reach out if you want to talk about athletics, clubs at brown, or any type of fun craft! Can’t wait to see you all!

    Avery Espiritu (he/him)

Hello! My name is Avery Espiritu! I am a member of the class of 2027 studying Applied Math-Computer Science, and I am from East Hanover, New Jersey.

I currently work as a Bruno Fellow as a part of New Student Programs and Initiatives! I’m on the Red Team, which means I am responsible for our communications, promotion, and social media outreach!

My favorite orientation event would be the Ice Cream Social!

Outside of my classes, I spend much of my time involved in student theater, performing in many shows across campus, and being chair of the board for Musical Forum, a student theater group that produces musicals! I am also on the internal events committee for Filipino Alliance!

Some fun facts about me are that I am a former professional child actor, I have over 1000 hours in the Sims 4, and I am a huge Survivor fan!

If you have any questions about shopping classes, the computer science concentration, theater and acting opportunities, or anything in between, please feel free to reach out!

    Min Sung Ellie Kim

Hi! My name is Min Sung Ellie Kim and I am a junior studying Biophysics. I've lived in both Seoul, South Korea and Vancouver, Canada, but now I call New York my home!

I am a Bruno Fellow for the Red Team— which means that I am responsible for everything on Instagram plus other marketing efforts.

My favorite program is the Orientation Dance!

I love enjoying the sun outside, reading, and hanging out with friends.

Ask me about Greek Life at Brown, research, and food in Providence.

  • kris

    Kris Lee (he/him)

Hi! My name is Kyoungmin Lee but I go by Kris! I am a junior studying Biochemistry and STS, and I’m from Appleton, Wisconsin.

This is my third year in the Orientation program, and second as a Bruno Fellow, with a focus on Orientation leadership training and internal projects.

My favorite orientation event has to be the Silent Disco – I know it may look silly at first, but once the headphones are on, the energy and fun soars through the roof!

Outside of Orientation, I help plan a TEDxBrownU conference each year, do pandemic detection and capacity research, and volunteer at a local free clinic. I’m also a HUGE coffee fanatic (specifically pour-overs), and brewing coffee is part of my morning routine :)

Would love to chat, please don’t hesitate to ask me about student life, exploring the open curriculum as a Pre-Med, living on a student budget, and coffee :)

  • akshat

    Akshat Mehta

Hi! I’m Akshat Mehta, a member of the class of 2027 from Fresno, California studying psychology and pre-med.

I’m a Bruno Fellow on the Brown team alongside Kris, where we lead recruitment, internal communications, and Bruno Leader training.

My favorite orientation events are Brown Runs Target and the Orientation Dance.

Here are a few fun facts! I have two little siblings and facetime them every night. I grew up in Iowa — you’ve been warned.

Please feel free to reach out to chat about anything that’s on your mind about Brown or the new student experience :)

    Shrey Mehta (he/him)

Hi! My name is Shrey Mehta, I am within the Class of 2026 and I am from Torrance, CA!

As a Gold Team Bruno Fellow, Simone and I work with our team to plan fun events for the weeks of Bruno Leader Training and New Student Orientation!! Stay tuned for some exciting new events this upcoming Fall :'0

My favorite Orientation event has to be the Ice Cream Social! So many people, so many new possibilities for friendship!

I'm one of those people who loves hopping around different spots on campus throughout the day...so I'm excited to run into a lot of y'all multiple times throughout the day! I may or may not be carrying my camera around too; I've been trying to film more video memories these days!

Ask me about cafes and restaurants around town...and Brown EMS!

For Bruno Fellow collaboration inquiries, please reach out to Bruno Fellow supervisor, Susi Abboud.
