Biography

Hi everyone! My name is Danielle and I am a rising senior studying APMA-Bio on a pre-med track. I am originally from Berkeley, CA and I transferred to Brown from Georgetown in the spring of 2023!

The best part about Brown is the huge spread of activities and opportunities, both academically and extracurricularly, that you can get involved in! On campus, I am currently in Brown EMS, I teach sex ed at high schools in Providence through SHAPE, and I design for Fashion @ Brown! I am also a campus tour guide. I absolutely love research and work in a few labs on campus in the Global Emergency Medicine department of the Med School, the School of Public Health, and the Watson Center for International Affairs. I will be at Brown for a 5th-year Master of Public Health, focusing on the intersection of AI/tech and human rights. I am more than happy to answer any questions about these activities or departments!

I love running, hiking, doing yoga, and exploring Providence! My favorite running spots are India Point Park and Blackstone Boulevard. My favorite spot on campus is definitely the Main Green on a sunny day!

As transfer students, you have the unique opportunity of being informed by your past experiences from their previous schools. You know what you do and do not want out of college, and that is a powerful thing! My advice would be to have faith in your path here—pursue what feels interesting and compelling to you and you will find communities in the process. Be prepared for some discomfort—embrace it and reach out to people in the process!

Feel free to reach out to me anytime at danielle_whisnant@brown.edu. I'm so excited to meet you all!
