Your Brown education is a combination of experiences both in and out of the classroom. An important part of that is the experience of living and learning in a residential community. 

You’ll find there are many resources available to you as a student at Brown, from housing and dining support to health and wellness, community building and leadership development. Below is some helpful information to get you started as a new student on campus.

Moving In

Details about moving into your campus residence — including specific check-in times and locations — will be communicated to you in email and posted on the Residential Life Fall Opening page in summer 2024. First year move-in takes place on August 28, 2024!

Students participating in pre-orientation programs or on certain athletic teams will move in before August 28th, and will receive information from those programs.

The Campus Bookstore

Have questions about your computer, notebooks, or textbooks? The Bookstore is the place for you! located at 244 Thayer St, it houses all of your day to day campus needs. For Frequently Asked Questions about textbooks please visit this site. The Bookstore also has a recommendation section you have questions about purchasing a mac or pc. If you cannot find what you're looking for, or want more information please contact the technology center at bookstore_techcenter@brown.edu

Shipping Items

You will receive your individual mailbox number in early August. After receiving this information, you can ship mail and packages using this format:

Living with us

Being assigned a room in one of our residence halls is not the end of a student’s journey with Residential Life, it is the beginning.

Health and Wellness Services at Brown includes urgent and routine care, public health and peer education programs, Counseling and Psychological Services and Emergency Medical Services.
Brown’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is your main source for computing and information technology answers.
Brown supports more than 500 student groups formed around shared interests and identities. Search for one you’re interested in, or start your own.
Brown Recreation offers group fitness classes, instructional programs, intramural and club sports and personal training and manages the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center, as well as other campus fitness centers.

Community Resources

Brown provides a vibrant residential environment that enables you to pursue your academic and extracurricular interests to the fullest.
