Undergraduate Orientation

Hi, I'm Axel, a junior studying Business Economics and East Asian Studies. I'm grew up in Massachusetts, now live in Charlotte, and I transferred to Brown from NYU Shanghai last fall. On campus, you can find me at the gym, studying in the Rock, or just hanging around — I'm also involved with Brown China Summit and poker club. Outside of Brown, I'm into ice hockey, scuba diving, traveling, and anything spontaneous.
My advice for incoming TRUE students: don't overthink the awkward moments. Everyone's in the same boat, and people here are a lot more welcoming and open than you'd expect. Lean into the TRUE community while you find your footing, and don't be afraid to make the first move. Something as simple as asking someone to grab lunch can be the start of everything.
