David Duan
Biography
Hi everyone! My name is David Duan, and I’m a sophomore at Brown University concentrating in Public Health on the pre med track. I transferred from Cornell, and am interested in the intersection of community health, policy, and clinical innovation.
On campus, I’m the founder of Pulse and Presence, a student led initiative focused on providing free health screenings and connecting community members in Providence to accessible care. I’m also involved in Brown Votes, where I work on civic engagement and expanding voter participation, and I participate in health and wellness initiatives through UCS, where I focus on student well being and policy work to improve access to resources on campus. I am also continuing two research project in global health and human physiology, including projects on myopia trends and high altitude hypoxia.
Beyond of academics, I enjoy playing volleyball, making music with friends (I play the drums, guitar, and piano), thrifting, and recently gotten into solo traveling.
My advice for incoming TRUE students is to approach every conversation with the mindset that you can learn something from the other person. Everyone has a story, a perspective, or an experience that can teach you something new if you are open to it.
