Undergraduate Orientation

Hi everyone! My name is Elsa, and I’m a rising Junior concentrating in English and Music. I’m from Santa Monica, CA and transferred to Brown from Wesleyan in Fall 2023.

At Brown, I’m a creative nonfiction writer for Sole Magazine, a lifestyle writer for -Post, a Senior Editor for Brown Film Magazine, a tutor through the Partnership for Adult Learning, a member of Planned Parenthood Advocates, and involved in the Applied Music and Chamber Music programs. I’m also interested in education; this summer, I’ll be working at an EdTech startup that focuses on learning disability evaluations in schools. In my free time, I love to play classical and jazz flute, indulge in weird craft projects, ski and travel!

My advice to any new TRUE student would be to be patient with (and proud of!) yourself. It takes real courage and work to uproot—know that you’re capable, deserving of your place here, and joining an amazing community on campus.
